Dandelion
Taraxacum officinale
Bitter leaf for a sluggish winter gut. Roasted root as a coffee stretch, not a drug.
- Part used
- Leaf, flower, roasted root
- Gather
- Lawns you do not spray. Young leaves March–April; roots in late fall.
- Tea
- Leaf: a small handful fresh. Root: simmer chopped dry root 15 minutes.
- Tincture
- Fresh root 1:2. A dropper before a greasy meal if that is your trouble.
- Other
Bitter herbs make bile move. If you have gallstones and a known attack pattern, do not play hero with a strong root tea.
