Jewelweed
Impatiens capensis
Same hollow as the poison ivy, on purpose. Smash and swab as soon as you itch.
- Part used
- Juicy stems, same day you meet the ivy
- Gather
- Wet shade, creek edges, July–September. Orange spotted snapdragons, exploding seed pods.
- Tea
- Tincture
- Other
- Mash a handful, paint the juice on, let dry, repeat. A strong tea in a spray bottle keeps a day in the icebox.
It soothes; it does not make you immune. Wash with soap first. Not a drink.
