Elderberry tincture

When you want a dropper in a coat pocket, not a sticky syrup bottle.

4 weeks · 1 pint jar

  1. Simmer 2 cups destemmed berries in a splash of water until soft, 15 minutes. Cool.
  2. Mash into a pint jar. Cover with 80–100 proof by a finger. Or skip the simmer and tincture cooked leftover pulp after you make syrup.
  3. 4 weeks in the dark, shake when you pass. Strain, bottle, label.
Dose
Adult: 1–2 droppers in a little water, 2–3 times a day at onset, 3–5 days.
Store
Dark shelf, years.

Alcohol. Not for children. Cook the berries first.
