poultice
Plantain (or self-heal) poultice
Chew or mash a clean leaf. Tape it on. The oldest first-aid in the yard.
2 minutes ยท One dressing
- Pick a clean leaf from a path you do not spray. Rinse if you can.
- Chew until wet and broken, or mash with a clean knife. Yarrow if it is bleeding; plantain if it is a sting or splinter; jewelweed if it is ivy.
- Tape or cloth it on. Change when it dries, a few times the first day.
- Dose
- As needed on intact or shallow broken skin you have already rinsed.
- Store
- Does not store. Pick it when you need it. Dry leaf can be crumbled into a little hot water to reconstitute.
Not on a deep hole, a sucking chest wound, or a bite you should leave open and washing. See Wounds.
